Bio‐inspired optical structures for enhancing luminescence

Luminescence is an essential signal for many plants, insects, and marine organisms to attract the opposite sex, avoid predators, so on. Most luminescent living have ingenious optical structures which can help them get high performances. These remarkable efficient been formed by natural selection from long-time evolution. Researchers keenly observed enhanced luminescence phenomena studied how these happen in order learn characteristics of bio-photonics. In this review, we summarize enhancing their applications. The are classified according different functions. We focus on researchers use biological inspirations enhance processes, such as chemiluminescence (CL), photoluminescence (PL), electroluminescence (EL). It lays a foundation further research applications enhancement. Furthermore, give examples enhancement bio-inspired information encryption, biochemical detection, light sources. show that it possible solve complex problems Our work will provide guidance biomimetic optics, micro- nano-optical structures, luminescence.
